The following bibliography is a comprehensive listing of coral reef related publications resulting from research funded by the National Sea Grant College Program (NSGCP). Since its inception over two and a half decades ago, the National Sea Grant College Program has continually supported coral reef related research. The nearly 1, 000 references included in this bibliography represent the immense amount of effort the NSGCP has expended in researching various aspects of the coral reef environment. Some of the major areas of concentration for this research have been: (1) coral reef ecology, (2) physiology of coral reef related species, (3) chemical ecology of coral reef related species, (4) economic significance and impacts of coral reefs, (5) management of the coral reef environment, (6) physical characteristics of the abiotic coral reef environment, and (7) interactions of near-by ecosystems with the coral reef environment. Much of this research funded by the NSGCP has been presented in various conferences, symposiums and workshops also sponsored and funded by the NSGCP and included in this bibliography. The distribution of this research conducted by the NSGCP as divided into the above categories is depicted in Figure 1. A listing of NSGCP Institution codes used throughout this bibliography and by the National Sea Grant Depository (NSGD) are listed in Appendix A. Loan instructions and contact information to the NSGD are provided in Appendix B; re-prints may also be obtained directly through the various Sea Grant Institutions listed in Appendix C.
