Services

The UM Center for Environmental Science Libraries are professionally staffed and specialized, providing on-site computerized literature searches, reference assistance, interlibrary loan services, and literature profile search capabilities. The Libraries are participating members of the University System of Maryland and Affiliate Institutions (USMAI) with access to the system-wide online catalog (VICTORWeb) and database services (MdUSA).

The UMCES Libraries collections are comprised of over 48,000 volumes, including ca. 6,000 books and 28,000 periodical volumes, as well as various state, federal, and international governmental and multinational documents. Active subscriptions in support of research and education at the UMCES Libraries includes over 200 journals; portions of the historical collection of marine-oriented documents and journals date from the late 1800s.
